4 Week Wheel

Children Clay summer camp

Learn to make on the pottery wheel! This class will cover centering, opening, pulling, use of tools, surface techniques, attachments and more. Basic small to medium vessels will be taught (ex. cylinders and bowls) with attachments (ex. handles). Students will also learn basic decoration and glazing techniques. Each student will work on their own wheel. Returning students will be given new challenges as well as have a chance to practice their technique and improve their skills.

Students should wear old clothes and tie back hair - the pottery wheel can be messy!

Tools, materials and firing included. Fired clay pieces will be ready for collection approximately two weeks after the course concludes. Class runs March 12, 19, 26 and April 2nd from 10A to 12P.

Our all clay, all day camp invites kids aged 8 to 13 to explore the art of pottery, including hand-building with wet clay and experiencing the thrill of wheel throwing. Please remember to pack a lunch, snack and a water bottle for your child's enjoyment during the camp.

After the camp, all clay creations will undergo kiln firing and will be ready for pickup in approximately 2-3 weeks. Find us at our studio located at 6850 Central Avenue.

Each session is grouped according to age but all have a similar structure: starting from the basic mechanics of wheel throwing and advancing their skills to build upon their work by practicing fun techniques on their Wheel-Thrown pieces.

Students will work on the wheel each day and complete one clay hand building project per day.
Cost per child for the week includes all materials and instructions including stoneware clay and firing

Clay will be kiln fired and ready to pick up in approx 2-3 weeks. All stoneware pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.
